Tiffin – More than just an Indian Lunchbox

Everyone knows that “tiffin” means lunchbox... However, to Hindustanis, a Tiffin contains not only food, but also represents the undying love from a Mother to her child… Mothers in India prepare lunch daily without fail, to be sent to their children in schools or at their workplaces, only to ensure that her child enjoys hot, healthy and delicious homemade food. The meal is usually stored in a tiffin, then dispatched to the child via a “tiffin-wala” (Hindi word for tiffin-deliveryman). The child then gets to savour the delectable homemade fare which tames his hungry belly and warms his heart. Think the above sounds like an advertisement plot? Well, in most Asian culture, love is expressed in a rather subtle manner. Just like how Mothers convey their love for her child through a simple Tiffin, I decided that “Tiffin” would also well represent my passion and dedication towards good North Indian food…
